Vest Self turns your goal into daily tasks and helps you follow through.
Putting money behind a goal is optional. You can earn back up to 100% of it as you progress.
Missing tasks can cost you part of your commitment — but no penalty is ever applied until a missed task has been reviewed.
If you think we got a review wrong, you can dispute it and a person will look at it.
1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Vest Self ("we", "us"). They apply when you use the Vest Self app or this website.
By creating an account, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Vest Self.
2. What Vest Self does
Vest Self helps you achieve your goals. You tell us what you want to achieve, and we:
use AI to break your goal into a plan of daily tasks;
add those tasks to your calendar, if you connect it;
help you track your progress and verify what you've completed;
let you invite an accountability partner and share your progress with the Vest Self community;
let you put money behind your goal, which you earn back as you follow through.
We're constantly improving Vest Self, so features may change over time.
3. Who can use Vest Self
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement. By using Vest Self, you confirm that you are.
4. Your account
Keep your sign-in details secure and let us know straight away if you think someone else has accessed your account. Make sure the information you give us is accurate — especially your payment details and the proof you submit. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
5. Commitments
A commitment is money you choose to put behind a goal, to give yourself a real reason to follow through. Commitments are completely optional — you can use Vest Self without one.
Before you commit
Before you confirm, the app shows you the amount, the tasks and milestones it's tied to, your deadline, any grace days you have, any fees, and the most you could lose, and how and when you'll be charged. Nothing is charged until you confirm.
Paying
Commitment payments are processed by Stripe, and we never see or store your full card number.
Earning it back
As you complete your tasks and milestones on time, you earn your commitment back in stages. You can earn back up to 100% of your commitment. If you complete everything on time, you get all of it back.
A commitment is not an investment, a deposit, savings, or a bet. It earns no interest or return, and you can never get back more than you put in.
6. Missed tasks and penalties
Because there are penalties for not completing tasks on time, we can't guarantee you'll earn back the full 100%.
What counts as a missed task
A task is missed if it isn't completed and verified by its deadline, and isn't made up within any grace days or redemption window shown in the app.
Every missed task is reviewed
No penalty is applied without a review. When a task is marked as missed, we'll let you know and give you the chance to submit proof or tell us what happened. No penalty is applied until that review is complete.
If a penalty applies
If the review confirms the task was missed, you lose the part of your commitment tied to that task, and that amount can no longer be earned back. The app always shows you how much you've earned back and how much is still at stake.
Money lost to penalties is kept by Vest Self and is not refunded.
7. Refunds
Any money you earn back is refunded to the card you paid with.
Refunds usually appear within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank.
If you delete your account with an active commitment, we'll settle it first and refund anything you've already earned back.
If a refund to your card fails — for example, because the card has expired — we'll contact you to sort it out.
If we stop offering Vest Self, we'll refund any part of an active commitment you haven't yet had the chance to earn back.
8. Disputes
If you think a review got it wrong, or something about a payment doesn't look right, contact us within 30 days by replying in the app or emailing hello@vestself.app.
A person from our team — not just our AI — will look at your case. We aim to reply within 5 business days. If we find we got it wrong, we'll reverse the penalty and refund the amount.
Please talk to us before raising a chargeback with your bank. We can usually sort things out faster, and a chargeback may pause your commitments while it's investigated. This doesn't affect your right to contact your bank.
9. Subscriptions
Some features may need a paid subscription. If you subscribe through the App Store or Google Play, billing, renewals, cancellations and refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their terms. You can cancel at any time in your device's subscription settings, and you'll keep access until the end of the period you've paid for.
10. Your content
You own the goals, notes, photos, videos and other content you add to Vest Self. You give us permission to store and use it only to run Vest Self for you — for example, to build your plan, verify your progress, and show what you choose to share with your partner or the community.
Only submit proof that's genuinely yours and that you have the right to share.
11. Using Vest Self fairly
Please don't:
submit fake or misleading proof, or try to trick our verification;
use someone else's payment method without permission;
harass, threaten or post harmful content about other people;
try to access other people's accounts or disrupt the app;
use Vest Self for anything illegal.
If you do, we may suspend or close your account. If we close your account for faking proof or fraud, penalties for the affected tasks may still apply.
12. Not professional advice
Your plan is generated with the help of AI. It's designed to be useful, but it can be wrong, and it isn't medical, fitness, nutritional, financial or legal advice. If your goal affects your health — like training for a race or changing your diet — check with a qualified professional first, and always do your tasks safely. You're responsible for deciding whether a task is right for you.
13. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Settings in the app, or by emailing us. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. If we close your account without a good reason under these terms, we'll refund any part of an active commitment you haven't yet had the chance to earn back.
14. Our liability
We work hard to keep Vest Self running smoothly, but we can't promise it will always be available or free from errors.
To the extent the law allows, we're not responsible for indirect losses, or for not reaching your goal. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim, plus any money you've earned back but haven't yet received.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited by law. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Vest Self grows. If we make a significant change, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Changes never apply to a commitment you've already made — that commitment follows the terms you agreed to when you made it.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
If you're a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in the courts there.
